Student Welcome Lunch
Saturday, July 11, 2026 – 13:00 – 14:00

Kick off your Congress experience by joining fellow students for a fun and engaging Welcome Lunch—your first chance to connect before the official start of WCB 2026. This is the perfect opportunity to meet peers, share what sessions or topics excite you most, and start building the friendships that will make your week in Vancouver unforgettable.

To get everyone mingling, we’ll host Icebreaker Bingo—a lively and interactive game where you’ll answer both fun and insightful questions while meeting other students. Complete your bingo card for the chance to win exciting prizes and make connections that last well beyond the Congress.

Don’t miss out—this is your chance to make the most of WCB 2026 from the very first day!

Get ready for an exclusive, interactive mentoring session where early-career researchers connect with leading experts from both academia and industry. This is your chance to engage in meaningful conversations, gain guidance, and build your professional network in a relaxed, small-group setting.

Designed for undergraduates, master’s students, PhD candidates, and junior postdocs, this session is your open space to discuss research challenges, career paths, leadership skills, publishing strategies, and the transitions between academia and industry. Ask candid questions, gain real-world insights, and build relationships with mentors who have shaped the biomechanics field.

Unlike formal presentations, this session emphasizes authentic engagement and informal conversation, helping you grow professionally and personally at a pivotal stage in your career. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from—and connect with—the experts who can inspire your next steps in biomechanics!

Join students from around the world for an evening of networking, collaboration, and community-building! As one of the few student-focused gatherings during the Congress, this ticketed event offers a relaxed and engaging space to make meaningful connections outside the technical sessions and soak in everything Vancouver has to offer.

With interactive activities, fun giveaways, and great refreshments, this is the perfect opportunity to meet your peers, share experiences, and build friendships that could last a lifetime. Make sure you’re there—it’s an evening designed for YOU!

Calling all undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, and early-career researchers! Join interactive small-group discussions with experienced professionals on key topics shaping global careers in biomechanics. Each roundtable will focus on a specific theme—such as international funding, cultural differences in research, emerging technologies, postdoc experiences abroad, and open science—giving you practical advice, shared experiences, and targeted resources.

This is your chance to explore diverse career pathways, gain insights into building international collaborations, and learn strategies for navigating research environments across cultures and sectors. Roundtable leaders come from academia, industry, and clinical fields, offering mentorship opportunities and a way to expand your professional network. Whether you’re planning a postdoc abroad, exploring open science, or considering alternative careers in biomechanics, these roundtables are designed to inform, inspire, and empower the next generation of biomechanics professionals.

Join us each morning before Congress sessions for a casual run starting from the Vancouver Convention Centre and winding through the scenic trails of Stanley Park. These runs are the perfect way to boost your energy, connect with fellow attendees, and enjoy Vancouver’s beautiful outdoors before the day begins.

With fun giveaways, draw prizes, and other incentives, these runs promise to be a memorable and energizing highlight of the Congress—a chance to mix wellness, networking, and adventure all in one!
