World Council of Biomechanics 2026 Student Bursary Awards
The World Council of Biomechanics (WCB) will offer a small number of travel awards to students. Each award, valued at €1,000, is designed to help cover travel, accommodation, living costs, and registration for participation in the WCB 2026 Congress in Vancouver, BC. The WCB 2026 Student Bursary Awards will be announced by March 6, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
- Enrolled as a doctoral student at the time of WCB 2026
- Submission of an abstract to WCB 2026
- Brief justification outlining the reason for requesting a travel grant
- Two-page Curriculum Vitae
- Statement, signed electronically by the student’s supervisor, confirming that the applicant is a deserving candidate and will still be a doctoral student at the time of WCB 2026
Selection: The WCB Executive Committee will select recipients from the pool of students who submit a complete application. Selection will be based on:
- Quality of the abstract submitted for presentation at WCB 2026
- Strength of supporting documentation, including the brief justification, CV, and supervisor’s statement

World Council of Biomechanics 2026 Travel Award
The World Council of Biomechanics (WCB) is pleased to invite biomechanics who have completed their graduate training and are practicing in regions of the world that traditionally have been under-represented in biomechanics, to apply for a WCB Travel Award to attend and present at the World Congress.
The council anticipates awarding a few WCB Travel Awards of approximately €1,500 each. These awards are competitive and may be used to cover travel costs, food, accommodations, and registration. The WCB Travel Awards recipients will be notified no later than March 6, 2026. This date has been extended to March 13, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
- PhD degree or equivalent
- Submit all application material: cover letter, curriculum vitae or resume, list of publications and conference abstract
- Provide documentation of citizenship, residency and employment in a country traditionally under-represented in the field of biomechanics
Selection: The Executive Council of the WCB will select the travel award recipients based on the following criteria:
- Quality of the abstract submitted for presentation at WBC 2026
- Evidence of contributions to biomechanics, especially in the country of practice
- Quality of the supporting documentation (cover letter, CV, publications)
